Areas of high rainfall will influence penetrating dampness.  Rising and penetrating dampness should be prevented by proper and adequate damp proofing including damp proof courses and membranes and detailing around door and window openings. The external fabric should be kept in repair to prevent rain penetration. Preventative measures including frost protection, will help avoid traumatic problems such as burst pipes and tanks.
